Randy Schroeder plays guitar, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and triangle for his main band, Uncle Zugg, and for the collaborative ambient-funk-prog group Zuggenfunk. He also played for the folk-punk band The Tarsdands, with fellow NeWest author Niall Howell, and for the psychedelic instrumental band Black Creek Canticles.
